SALIC organized a seminar on stockpiling of agricultural commodities
Saudi agricultural and livestock investment company ( Salic )
organized a seminar on stockpiling of agricultural commodities was held at the
Ritz Carlton Hotel in Riyadh during 9-10 September 2015. The seminar was
organized by the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment Company (SALIC) in
cooperation with the UK-based Harper Adams University. The seminar was attended
by participants from a large group of interested institutions including; the
Ministry of Agriculture, Grain Silos & Flour Mills Organization, Agricultural
Development Fund, The General Directorate for International Cooperation and
Overseas Agricultural Investments and; the Director of King Abdullah Initiative
for Agricultural Investments Abroad. The FAO representative in Saudi Arabia has
also attended the seminar.
The seminar has discussed different patterns of food stockpiling
at a global level and has also discussed WTO stand on stockpiling
practices. Global grain and red meat
production trends were covered, along with practical and scientific
consideration related to the establishment and management of stockpiling systems.
The seminar has also elaborated on relevant economic policies and the potential
of public-private partnerships to develop an efficient stockpiling setting. Finally, the stockpiling experiences of some
countries were presented.
SALIC’s CEO, Mr. Abdullah Aldubaikhi, has stated that the
company persistently endeavors to implement and spread knowledge related to
